Construction officially began on 09/19/2011 on the District’s phase VII water plant upgrade to add an ultraviolet advanced oxidation treatment process to water plant 2. Reynolds is the contractor. Expected construction time is 300 days.
The District’s phase VII water line extension to Valeene project is complete. A total of 167 new residential customers now have access to a safe, clean and reliable source of water thanks to an OCRA grant and a loan from USDA Rural Development. In addition to the new retail customers, another wholesale water connection has been installed and connected to Posey Township Water. This additional supply will enable them to receive all of their water needs from the District.
Additional project details and photos are avilable in the Project Phase VII page.
A "Pick Up Patoka" clean up day has been scheduled for September 24th, 2011. The trash pickup around Patoka Lake will be from 8 AM until 11 AM. Free food, drinks and fun will be had from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Newton Stewart Shelter House. For complete details including meet up spots please see this PDF File.
Water Main installation is complete. Final meters are being dropped in and turned on. The booster station is up and running and the tank is full. Everyone signed up for phase VII meters should have water or be getting it very shortly. Cleanup of the construction right-of-way is ongoing, slowed by wet weather. Expect cleanup and seeding to be complete by the end of July. Paving of the Valeene Road has started. It should be completed by mid July. All work should be done and over with around the end of July.
