Board of Directors Elect New Officers for 2012

For the first time since Patoka Lake Reg Water & Sewer District’s formation in 1975, a new President of the Board was elected Monday, January 9. John Noblitt, former Vice President, was voted in as President with the retirement of long time President Edwin Pieper. John Wade, former Treasurer, was voted in as Vice President. Louie Allstott was voted in to remain as Secretary. And Thomas Lamb was voted in as Treasurer. At the first meeting in December, newly appointed board member by the Dubois County Council, Tim Friedman, was welcomed. Tim replaces Ed Pieper.

Blue Green Algae 2011 Monitoring Report Presentation

November 16 Watershed meeting had IUPUI's Nicolas Clercin and Bob Hall present their findings from the 2011 blue green algae study conducted on Patoka Lake for the Patoka Lake Watershed Committee with a focus on the Lick Fork finger. For more information view the presentation.

Edwin H. Pieper Honored by Patoka Regional Water & Sewer District at Retirement Dinner

On November 9th, 2011, at a dinner for guests and employees, the Patoka Lake Regional Water & Sewer District honored Edwin H. Pieper for 36 years of dedicated and exemplary service to the district and PLRWS.

The event included an invocation and introduction by John Noblitt (Vice President), and remarks and reflections from Jim Burch of Midwestern Engineers, Mike Phillips with Phillips & Phillips Attorneys, and Bruce Heeke from PLRWS.

Thank You Ed for a job well done! Enjoy your retirement!

Fall 2011 Flushing Schedule

Patoka Water will be flushing lines starting September 21st through December 30th to remove sediment that may have accumulated in our water lines. You may experience NO water or LOW pressure during the day from 8am to 3pm. Please check your water before washing clothes, there could be a slight discoloration of the water but it will be safe for other uses. If you have any questions call 800-313-5589 or 678-5781. Phase VII Division III Water Plant Upgade Update 09/20/2011

Construction officially began on 09/19/2011 on the District’s phase VII water plant upgrade to add an ultraviolet advanced oxidation treatment process to water plant 2. Reynolds is the contractor. Expected construction time is 300 days.

Phase VII Water Line Extension to Valeene Update 09/20/2011

The District’s phase VII water line extension to Valeene project is complete. A total of 167 new residential customers now have access to a safe, clean and reliable source of water thanks to an OCRA grant and a loan from USDA Rural Development. In addition to the new retail customers, another wholesale water connection has been installed and connected to Posey Township Water. This additional supply will enable them to receive all of their water needs from the District.

"Pick Up Patoka" Clean Up Day September 24th

A "Pick Up Patoka" clean up day has been scheduled for September 24th, 2011. The trash pickup around Patoka Lake will be from 8 AM until 11 AM. Free food, drinks and fun will be had from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Newton Stewart Shelter House. For complete details including meet up spots please see this PDF File

Phase VII Water Line Extension to Valeene Update 06/29/2011

Water Main installation is complete. Final meters are being dropped in and turned on. The booster station is up and running and the tank is full. Everyone signed up for phase VII meters should have water or be getting it very shortly. Cleanup of the construction right-of-way is ongoing, slowed by wet weather. Expect cleanup and seeding to be complete by the end of July. Paving of the Valeene Road has started. It should be completed by mid July. All work should be done and over with around the end of July.
